Assistant General Manager Job Description:

The Assistant Manager contributes to the hotel's commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork and must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence. This position will report directly to the General Manager of the hotel, as well as the owner, Armanda Ortega.
This position will have oversight of the housekeeping, front office and food and beverage departments of the property. A hands-on approach is necessary to effectively manage the quality of customer service and guest suite cleanliness. Management is of nearly 100% Navajo employees and guest interaction is with visitors from around the world so a multi-ethnic understanding and appreciation of cultural differences is essential.
Position Responsibilities
*Responsible for leading each employee in providing high quality customer service
*Daily exceed the expectations of guests and clients
*Functions as one of the entrepreneurial leaders of the hotel
*Uses discretion over the decision making for the entire operation, in conjunction with the General Manager
*Assist in overseeing the five major departments of the hotel property, including the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Laundry and Sales
*Use business savvy to operate these departments as each sees fit
*Assist in managing the P&L and budgets
*Assist in recruiting, hiring, coaching, and terminating employees
*Develop/implement employee schedules
*Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
* 1-2+ years experience working in a guest service oriented Food & Beverage establishment preferred
* College degree preferred
* Supervisory experience preferred as this position will oversee hotel associates
* Profit and loss and budgeting experience strongly preferred
* Sales background and rate/yield management experiences are preferred
* Must have an attitude and drive for success
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PMS systems strongly preferred
* Must have exceptional customer service skills
* Experience in a multi-ethnic work environment preferred
